Horsmonden Parent Update

Dear Parents

Goodbye Year 6

Today, we say goodbye to our special Year 6 children. Over the past seven years, they’ve been a joy to know and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We’ve proudly watched them develop in independence, confidence, and character, and I believe they are now truly ready for their next chapter. I wish them all the very best for their futures and hope they’ll keep in touch.

Staffing Updates

Following a successful year in Year 2, Ms Cota’s fixed term contract has come to an end and today we bid her a fond farewell. On behalf of everyone at Horsmonden, thank you for all your hard work this year, Ms Cota, and we all wish the very best for the future!

I’m excited to share that over the summer break, Miss Warwood will be getting married and will return to Horsmonden in September as Mrs Wenham. I can’t wait to hear all about her big day, and I wish the happy couple a lifetime of happiness together.

Wraparound Care – Premier Education

Anyone who wishes to use Breakfast or After School Club from September onwards, should book directly with Premier using their online portal.  The portal will go live over the summer break as Premier update their systems ready for the start of the new year.

Co-Curricular Clubs

Our co-curricular clubs will start on Monday 15th September. Details of the clubs available to book will be shared at the start of the new term, once the new families are set up on MCAS.

MCAS – meal bookings

I am pleased to report that our new MCAS meal booking system has been a great success. Not only are parents able to see the menus and order school meals in advance, our catering team has significantly reduced food wastage and our teaching team has now streamlined their registration process, which means more time for learning!

From September it will not be possible for your child to order a meal at school, meaning all meals must be booked in advance. If a child comes to school without having booked a meal or brought in a packed lunch, we will call to ask you to bring in a lunch or order a meal on the MCAS app. We will be unable to order meals at school.

Further to this, we are also moving to a pay-as-you-go system, which means that parents will need to top up their dinner balance before booking a meal or pay for the meal at the time of booking. It will no longer be possible to incur a deficit.

In addition, Cucina have informed me that the price of a school lunch will be increasing to £2.61 in September.

FoHPS

What an incredible year it’s been for FoHPS! I’m thrilled to announce that a grand total of £9210.55 was raised for the children of Horsmonden. Please see the attached flyer for further details of the fundraising this year.

A massive thank you goes out to the entire FoHPS committee for their phenomenal efforts. These dedicated volunteers generously give their own time to create exciting events for our children, all while raising vital funds for the school.

This year, the committee was expertly led by Gemma and Charly, who have now decided to step down as Co-Chairs. We extend our deepest gratitude to both of them for tirelessly organising all the events and spearheading this year’s impressive fundraising.

As we look ahead to the next academic year, plans are already underway with our new Co-Chairs, Cicely Bridger and Lauren Whinder, at the helm.

Thank you

I truly appreciate parents sharing their thoughts, ideas, and concerns with me directly about their child’s journey at Horsmonden. I’m always here to listen, and my commitment remains the same: to ensure every child gets the best possible education while they’re with us. A big thank you to everyone who has supported the school this past year. Wishing you all a wonderful summer!

Kind regards,

Hayley Sharp
