Parent Update – 17/03

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to you as part of our commitment to the health and wellbeing of the children at Horsmonden.  You may be aware of recent reports regarding a small number of meningococcal (meningitis) cases within the wider Kent community.

While there are currently no confirmed cases within any Leigh Academies Trust Academies, I believe it is a timely opportunity to remind our local community of the symptoms to look out for and the preventative measures we can all take. Please see the following link for information regarding the symptoms of meningitis as set out by the NHS. 

If you suspect your child is ill with these symptoms, please keep them at home and contact your GP or NHS 111 immediately.  All other pupils should attend in the normal way. 

Our staff team have been briefed on early symptom recognition, and we continue to promote high standards of respiratory hygiene (Catch it, Bin it, Kill it). In addition, the central team at Leigh Academies Trust are maintaining close contact with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to keep up to date with any changes.
