Dear Parents
Welcome back to Term 5! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing Easter break.
It has been a fantastic start to the term, with a renewed focus on our Behaviour and Expectations. During our recent assemblies, we reminded the children how they can earn stars and the impact of their hard work: contributing to their collective House Team rewards and unlocking opportunities for individual success at the end of the term.
To be successful, we encourage all children to embody our Learner Profile Attributes and Approaches to Learning in every aspect of school life. As a reminder, these core values are outlined below:
| Learner Profile Attributes | Approaches to Learning |
| Balanced
Caring Communicator Inquirer Knowledgeable Open-minded Principled Reflective Risk-taker Thinker |
Communication Skills
Research Skills Self-Management Skills Social Skills Thinking Skills |
Special Educational Needs – Fidget Toys
Our SENCo, Mrs Kerr, works closely with our children on the SEN Register and their families to ensure every child has the support they need to focus.
To maintain a productive learning environment, we kindly ask that parents do not send fidget toys into school from home. If a child requires a fidget tool to support their concentration, these will be assessed and provided directly by Mrs Kerr and the class teacher.
The decision regarding the use of these tools during lessons rests with school staff to ensure they are used effectively and without distraction. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our classrooms focused and inclusive.
FoHPS Events
Thank you to our dedicated FoHPS parent volunteers for organising such a brilliant Easter Egg Hunt! We know it was a little later than planned, but we appreciate the children’s patience while we waited to reschedule following our water outage at the end of last term.
Our next big event is the Summer Fair on Saturday, 6th June (12:00 pm – 3:00 pm). Cicely and the team have already put in months of hard work behind the scenes, and now we need your help to make it a success!
To help us prepare, we are kindly asking for donations over the coming weeks. Please see the schedule below for what to bring and when:
- w/c 20th April: Toy Donations
- w/c 27th April: Bottle Donations (for the Tombola)
- w/c 5th May: Hamper Donations
- Friday 15th May: Bags of Sweets
Thank you in advance for your generosity and for helping us make this year’s fair the best one yet!
To help us spread the word about the Summer Fair, we are looking for volunteers willing to host an estate agent advertisement board in their front garden. This is a fantastic way to boost our fundraising. For every board displayed, the estate agent makes a direct donation to FoHPS. The more boards we put up, the more money we raise for our school.
For more details or to sign up, please email the FoHPS team at fohpsinfo@gmail.com.
Hair
As part of our ongoing focus on Behaviour and Expectations, we have reminded all children that hair reaching shoulder length or longer must be tied back.
Maintaining this standard helps our school community in three key ways:
- It significantly reduces the transmission of head lice.
- It prevents hair from falling into children’s faces, allowing them to concentrate fully on their work.
- It ensures children can play and participate in PE and sports safely.
From Monday, I kindly request that all children with shoulder-length hair come to school with it tied back. Thank you for your support in keeping our pupils safe and focused.
Uniform
From Saturday 2nd May to Monday 4th May, Brigade is offering a 10% discount on all parent online orders. To claim your savings, simply visit www.brigade.uk.com and enter the code BANKHOL10 at checkout. This is a great opportunity to stock up on essentials for the remainder of the school year.
Year 4 Maypole
Following our long-standing village tradition, Year 4 will be performing their Maypole dance on Friday, May 1st. We invite parents, family, and friends to join us on Horsmonden Village Green at 11:00 AM to enjoy the festivities. We look forward to seeing you there!
Cricket Club
I am happy to announce that a limited number of spaces are still available for our cricket club, Calypso Cricket. These sessions are designed for children from Year 2 onwards, regardless of their skill level. Our goal is to provide a fun environment where children can experience a faster-paced and more exciting side of cricket.
As always, If you have any feedback, questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me. You could catch me on the gate in the morning/afternoon, email, or make an appointment at the school office.
Kind regards
Hayley Sharp
