Dear Parents
We have missed Year 5 so far this week, as they have been taking part in their first 2 night, 3 day residential trip at Grosvenor Hall (part of Kingswood) in Ashford. Grosvenor Hall is an activity centre set in the beautiful grounds of a former manor house where Year 5 have taken part in a range of outdoor, adventurous activities, including raft building, high ropes, obstacle challenges, ‘leap of faith’ and scavenger hunts to name a few. For some, this was the first time they had been away from home but they all coped brilliantly, showing the learner profile attributes of ‘risk-taker,’ ‘open-minded,’ ‘caring’ and ‘communicator,’ as examples.

I am looking forward to welcoming them all back tomorrow and hearing all about their amazing trip! Year 5 parents are all welcome to come to the Year 5 Assembly on Friday at 9am to see a short presentation about their learning this term, including their experience at Grosvenor Hall.
Breakfast and Afterschool Club
Our Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs are more popular than ever! This means that now is the time to refine the booking process to ensure all children who attend have enough space to play and food to eat.
To guarantee your child’s space at Breakfast Club or After School Club, please book on MCAS before booking closes each day, which is 24 hours before the start of each club. For example, to book for Breakfast Club on a Monday, you must book a space on MCAS before 7:45am on Sunday.
After half term, we will be unable to accept walk-ins, so please book in advance to avoid being turned away.
Curricular Clubs
Our range of curricular clubs will start the first week back after half term and below you will find out what’s on offer to be booked. Please pay attention to the dates, as not all clubs will run every week.

Teacher run clubs cost £3.00 per session and must be paid for as a block, in advance through MCAS. Clubs will open for booking on MCAS at 8am Friday 18th October and close at 3:30pm on Friday 18th October. Please ensure children are booked into their chosen club during this time to avoid disappointment. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
- Football Five Star is available to book straight away by contacting Jim Bodle on: 07714798268
- Art Club is available to book straight away using the following link.
Parent Consultations – Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th November, 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Parent Consultations will take place during our first week back after half term. Appointments will be 10 mins long and give parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s learning, progress and areas for development. You will also be able to look through their Maths, Skills and Inquiry books. Parents will be informed as to whether their child is working towards, at or above the level of attainment expected for their age.
This year, we are trialling the use of MCAS when booking appointments for Parent Consultations. Bookings can be made using the ‘Parents Evenings’ folder/button on the main page of the app from 8am tomorrow morning (Thursday 17th October).
FoHPS Scary Hair Day – Friday 18th October
The next FoHPS event is Crazy Hair Day on the last day of term – Friday 18th October. If your child wishes to take part, they can come to school with a crazy hairstyle for the day, in exchange for a £1 donation to be paid on MCAS. Please see the attached poster for some ideas.
